Police said that a man reported to investigators that on Monday, Nov. 18, he left money and credit cards in a secured locker at approximately 1 p.m. at the YMCA. When he returned approximately 40 minutes later, he took his belongings and left the locker room.
According to police, shortly thereafter, he received a message from his bank asking if he had attempted to make a $4,253.94 charge at Macy’s in Stamford. He later found that his wallet was also missing $60 in cash and his debit and credit cards were all taken.
The man proceeded to contact his bank, which informed him that a second additional purchase of $2,879.43 was made at Saks Fifth Avenue in Stamford, though that too was declined.
The incident remains under investigation by the Darien Police Department.
